As every year, on the first Saturday of August, the cyclical event Dixieland in Křižany took place in Křižany. The media patronage over the event was conducted by the Liberec Region and Governor Martin Půta. It was the twentieth edition of the event, which was graced by concerts combined with demonstrations of traditional, local crafts and a fair of regional products. This form of event works perfectly, because it combines the promotion of the region and jazz music, bringing together enthusiasts of both these fields, as well as local people and tourists. No wonder – beautiful music, local culture and wonderful views – what more do you need to spend a pleasant Saturday?

This year, by the invitation of the mayor, our favorite jazz band – Dixie Company – visited the festival. The band is well-known through the Czech jazz enthusiast community and, like other stars of this event, gathers many music lovers at their concerts. It was no different this time – the audience gathered in large numbers and enthusiastically accepted the performances.

The musicians from Dixie Company had the opportunity to present their art, with which they have been traveling for years not only in Poland, the Czech Republic and other neighboring countries, but also in much more distant corners of the world, such as America.

Beside Dixie Company, the stage featured:

– The Old Stars,

– Steamboat Stompers,

– Jubilee Dixie Band,

– Libé hlasy,

– Swing Melody,

– Brass Band.

Dixie Company was the only Polish accent at the festival – the rest of the artists came from the Czech Republic. All concerts took place according to plan, each band showed the artistry of their music and won the audience’s sympathy. At the end of the festival, some of the musicians took part in a jam session, showing off their technique and presenting the audience with the beauty of jazz improvisation.

Don’t worry! We would like to remind you that on 31 of August 2024, the next – XVI edition – Poznań Old Jazz Festival will take place and Dixie Company will perform there. Just like at the Dixieland festival in Křižany, we will accompany them in the audience! See you soon!
