Doosan DL250 loaders are highly valued machines, appreciated by their users. No wonder. People value them because of their reliability, ergonomics, high power and durability, that lets them work for many years, even with intense exploitation. You can’t forget their comfortable cabin equipment, which guarantees the driver maximum comfort during his working hours.
Doosan DL250 loader, where we had the opportunity to work with, is the property of the company that provides waste management services, maintenance of road facilities and infrastructure. The machine is mainly operated in a landfill, where it is used to move and stack the wastes, also to load or unload transport vehicles.
The Doosan DL250 is a heavy equipment, powered by a Diesel engine. During operation, it burns large amounts of diesel fuel, while emitting pollutants in the form of exhaust gases. However, the owner of the machine wanted to reduce its operating costs, which is why he established cooperation with us and decided to install a Fuel Fusion (diesel with LPG) installation. Environmental issues were also important to him.
1. How has the Fuel Fusion impacted the running costs of the Doosan DL250?
The installation allows partial replacement of diesel with much cheaper gas, in this case it is LPG. In the case of the Doosan DL250 loader, the level of replacement is usually in the range of 20-30%, but sometimes it exceeds this range.
1.1. Where do these differences come from?
Every day, the Doosan DL250 handles different debris and weather conditions. No man ever has two identical working days and the same is true for machines. Each time it is at least slightly different. They affect the operation of the device and the level of replacement a diesel with LPG.
1.2. How is the level of replacement determined?
The whole process is automatic and performed by the system controller. It, with help of numerous sensors, examines the current state of the installation. The operator of the machine can work as before without thinking about the installation at all.
As a result, the Fuel Fusion is able to adjust the mixture ratio to maximize savings, without exposing the engine to the risk of damage.
What’s more, the system controller remembers all the data and allows you to generate a detailed report on the operation of the installation and the consumption of both diesel and LPG.
1.3 How does fuel replacement make the savings?
Diesel fuel in Poland is roughly twice as expensive as LPG. If we assume that one litter of diesel is replaced by 1.3 litters of LPG, we will notice a clear difference in fuel costs. Assuming that the level of substitution remains in the range of 20-40%, we can count on saving about 10% of funds spent on fuel. In the case of the Doosan DL250 loader, this is a significant amount that will remain with the company each month.
2. How did the system affect the emission of pollutants?
The primary purpose of the Doosan DL250 loader in a landfill is to help fight the pollution we generate every day. In the spirit of a pro-ecological approach, the owner of the charger wanted to minimize its negative impact on the environment. So, he decided to reduce the amount of exhaust fumes emitted by it.
Fuel Fusion is perfect for that. Why? If you would like to understand this matter, you should think – where are the solid particles in fumes from? They are nothing other, than unburnt diesel residues. Due to the fact that the mixture of air with diesel and LPG burns at a higher temperature, the combustion is more complete.
3. Has Fuel Fusion changed anything else in the work of the Doosan DL250 loader?
Of course! Since the moment of installation, the engine has got more power. This is because more energy is released when the mixture of air, diesel and LPG burns than just an air and a diesel alone. In the case of machines used for work, power is never enough, which is why such an addition is very pleasing to the owner and operator of the loader.
Thanks to the fact that the Doosan DL250 loader gained an additional LPG tank – located on the surface of the engine compartment cover – the vehicle can work longer on one refuelling. As a result, you need to take fewer breaks to refuel, so the work is much faster. An additional advantage is the fact that the gas cylinder placed on the loader is the same as the cylinders mounted in forklifts. Therefore, there are no problems with their availability when you need to replace them – you can buy them at most of the gas distribution points.
4. Time is money – how long did it take to assembly Fuel Fusionon the Doosan DL250?
Due to the fact that LPG is supplied to the combustion chamber together with air, assembly of the installation does not require any interference with the engine structure. This solution not only does not damage the components of the combustion system in any way, but also does not require long-term assembly.
In most cases an installation takes just one day. This was also the case with the Doosan DL250 loader. The owner delivers the machine to us and the next day he drives it away, saving on fuel. Or in special cases, we come to the vehicle or machine.
5. Fuel Fusion worked for the Doosan Charger – will it work for you too?
Fuel Fusion is a universal system that can work with any Diesel engine. Therefore, it will work not only in the loader, but also in:
- trucks,
- special vehicles e.g. garbage trucks, tippers, hook lifts, concrete mixers,
- agricultural machinery,
- coaches,
- buses and other vehicles below 3.5T,
- even in barges or in power generators and more.
